The Safe Market's Post-Sale Service Relationship: What It Looks Like 5, 10, and 20 Years After Delivery

Most buyers assume the dealer relationship ends when the truck leaves. Here is what it actually looks like, and why a 48-year specialist operation is a fundamentally different kind of purchase than a safe from a sporting goods store.

From the field

When the Super Bowl came to Atlanta, the organization holding the championship rings and trophies called us. Two days from the call to complete installation at the Omni Hotel. That is what a 48-year relationship with our clients looks like, and it is the same relationship we offer every owner in Atlanta who calls with a lock question years after delivery.

That first interaction with the customer is the opening of a very long and mutually beneficial relationship.

The Safe Market

The Short Answer

The Relationship Doesn't End at Delivery. Here Is What It Includes.

A manufacturer's warranty covers defects in manufacturing. It does not cover a lock that needs servicing five years after purchase, a safe that needs to move when you renovate, a lockout that happens at 11pm on a Saturday, or a trade-in when your collection has outgrown the interior. Those are post-sale service needs, and no manufacturer, no national brand, and no sporting goods retailer is equipped to address them. We are.

The Safe Market's post-sale service ecosystem includes six distinct services: diagnostic inspection, lock repair and replacement, SAVTA-certified safe opening for lockout situations, safe moving and relocation, rental for temporary high-security needs, and a trade-in and trade-up program. These services exist because we built them over 48 years, not because any manufacturer designed them into a warranty program. The ecosystem after the sale is where the actual value of buying from a specialist dealer gets built.

Whether you bought your safe from us five years ago and are noticing a change in the lock, or you are evaluating dealers right now and want to understand what the post-sale relationship looks like before you commit, this page covers both. For every service type, we will name it, describe it briefly, and route you to the detailed guide where it lives.

Why the Gap Exists

What a Manufacturer's Warranty Actually Covers, and What It Doesn't

A safe manufacturer's warranty is a product warranty. It covers manufacturing defects discovered within the warranty period. What it does not cover is everything that happens to a functioning safe over the course of its service life: the lock that drifts off combination after years of use, the door seal that needs attention, the dehumidifier that fails silently, the humidity damage that accumulates because no one told you what to check. A warranty assumes the product performed correctly. Most safe ownership problems are not product failures; they are maintenance and service needs that arise from normal use in a normal environment.

No national manufacturer employs SAVTA-certified technicians who make service calls. No national brand has a fleet that moves safes after the original installation. No manufacturer takes your old safe in trade for a new one. These services do not exist in the manufacturer model because manufacturers are not in the service business; they are in the product business. The dealer who understands that the sale is the opening of a long relationship is a different kind of dealer.

Why it exists at allThe ecosystem after the sale, service, trade-in, moving, repair, exists because we built it over 48 years. No manufacturer provided it. No national brand offers it. We built it because our customers needed it and we had the years and the staff to deliver it.

Who Has Access

You Do Not Have to Have Bought It From Us

Do You Service Safes You Did Not Sell?

Yes. We service safes across all major brands, AMSEC, Liberty Safe, Rhino Metals, ISM, and many others. If the safe was installed by a general mover, a sporting goods store, or a previous owner, we can still evaluate it and provide service. What we cannot do for a safe we did not install is tell you what the original installation history was, but we can assess the current condition and tell you what it needs now.

Our service area covers the entire Atlanta metro, the full state of Georgia, and extends across a five-state footprint covering southern Tennessee, eastern Alabama, northwestern North Carolina, and southern South Carolina. For customers in communities where no other SAVTA-certified service option exists, that geographic reach is the difference between a qualified service call and a guess from a general locksmith who has never been trained on commercial-grade safe mechanisms.

What Happens When You Call Years After Purchase

Customers who bought a safe from us a decade ago still call. That is not a marketing statement; it is the observable pattern from 48 years of operation. When a customer calls with a lock question three years after delivery, we can often pull the installation record, know the product, and give specific guidance before anyone drives to the house. That continuity does not happen with a sporting goods retailer that treats the sale as the end of the transaction.

The honest framing: we do not disappear after the sale. What that looks like in practice is a team that answers the phone, knows the product history for safes we installed, can schedule a service call within the same metro area, and carries the credentials to do the work correctly without destroying the safe to complete it.

For the Pre-Purchase Buyer

If You Are Still Evaluating, Here Is What to Ask Any Dealer

The post-sale relationship is worth evaluating before you purchase, not after. The questions that reveal whether a dealer has a genuine post-sale capability or not are direct.

Ask any dealer
  • 1Do you service safes after the warranty period?
  • 2Do you have SAVTA-certified technicians on staff?
  • 3Do you offer relocation services if I move?
  • 4Do you have a trade-in program?
  • 5Can you open a safe if I am locked out, without destroying it?

A sporting goods store, a big-box retailer, and a national brand website all answer no to every one of those questions. The sale ends their involvement. What happens to your safe in year five or year ten is not their concern because they are not built for it. A 48-year specialist operation with SAVTA-certified technicians, an active trade-in program, and a documented service history with customers who call back a decade later is a different kind of purchase.

The safe you buy is not just the object. It is the relationship around it. The object lasts 20 to 50 years. The dealer you buy from either supports that lifespan or does not.

Common Questions

Post-Sale Service Relationship

The questions buyers and owners ask most about what happens after the sale.

What does The Safe Market's post-sale service relationship actually look like?

The Safe Market operates a post-sale service ecosystem that includes six services available after purchase: diagnostic inspection by SAVTA-certified technicians, lock repair and replacement with factory certifications from the three major lock manufacturers, SAVTA-certified safe opening for lockout situations, safe relocation through the Move My Safe service, rental for temporary high-security needs, and a trade-in and trade-up program with in-stock inventory across the full security spectrum. Customers who purchased safes a decade ago still call. The relationship does not close at delivery.

Do you service safes you did not sell?

Yes. The Safe Market services safes across all major residential and commercial brands regardless of where they were purchased or installed. Service capability covers the full Atlanta metro, the state of Georgia, and a five-state footprint extending into southern Tennessee, eastern Alabama, northwestern North Carolina, and southern South Carolina. For a safe we did not install, we assess the current condition and provide service based on what the safe needs now, even without the original installation history.

What does a manufacturer's warranty actually cover for a safe?

A manufacturer's warranty covers manufacturing defects discovered within the warranty period. It does not cover service needs that arise from normal use: lock mechanisms that drift after years of operation, door seals that need attention, humidity damage that accumulates from inadequate dehumidification, or lock replacements after the mechanism has reached end-of-life. No manufacturer employs SAVTA-certified technicians who make service calls, and no manufacturer's warranty covers a lockout, a relocation, or a trade-in. These are post-sale service needs that only a specialist dealer provides.

How is buying from The Safe Market different from buying from a sporting goods store after the sale?

A sporting goods retailer's involvement with your safe ends when the sale is complete. They do not service locks, open lockouts, move safes, take trade-ins, or maintain a service relationship with customers after purchase. The Safe Market's post-sale ecosystem exists because we built it over 48 years, with SAVTA-certified technicians, factory lock certifications, a trade-in program with active in-stock inventory, and a Move My Safe relocation service. The purchase decision that looks equivalent at the point of sale diverges significantly in year three, year seven, and year fifteen.

Does The Safe Market rent safes?

Yes. Safe rental is available for temporary high-security needs: a home renovation where the permanent safe needs temporary relocation, a short-term event where secure storage is needed without a permanent purchase, or a period between safe purchases. The rental process follows the same professional protocol as a permanent installation, delivery, placement, and retrieval all use the same service infrastructure. Contact our team at any of our three Atlanta-area showrooms to discuss rental availability and timelines.
