What Makes the UL 2018 Different

Security Construction & Burglary Protection
The UL 2018 leads with fire protection, but the build carries real burglary resistance too. The recessed door is 3-1/2 inches thick with a 5/8-inch front, and the recess removes the lip a pry bar needs to bite. A handle-activated mechanism drives 7/8-inch solid steel chrome-plated bolts into the frame. This safe sits at Level 5 on our security scale, the middle of the range.
Learn MoreCertified Fire Protection & What It Means
The UL 2018 carries a UL Class 350 rating for two hours at 1850 degrees, the top of AMSEC's fire line. Class 350 means the interior stayed below 350 degrees through the test, the point where paper begins to char. AMSEC also runs this body through a 30-foot drop test, which simulates a safe falling through a burning two-story building. That test matters because a safe that splits on impact stops protecting anything inside it.
Learn MoreLock Type & Access Options
Clearance units ship with a UL Listed Group II mechanical combination lock offering a million possible combinations. The electronic lock shown in the factory photo is not available on these units. A mechanical dial needs no batteries and will outlast most electronics, though it takes longer to open than a keypad.
