Residential Vault Door

A vault door turns a closet, a basement room, or a dedicated space into something more. The ProFit is built for that work, and built to install cleanly in a finished home.

A half-inch solid steel plate door. A proprietary DryLight fire-resistant composite barrier behind it. Six 1.5-inch chrome-plated locking bolts. A modular frame designed for rapid, clean installation. Available in three sizes, two swing directions, three hardware finishes, and thirteen standard color options.

The construction

What the door is actually made of, and why it matters.

The door body is a solid half-inch plate of steel. Behind it, a layer of AMSEC's proprietary DryLight composite, a seamless fire-resistant fill that runs the full body of the door. The combination is the same construction AMSEC uses in their BFX Series safes.

Six chrome-plated 1.5-inch locking bolts engage the frame when you turn the handle. The hardplate behind the lock covers every critical action bar in the door, including the emergency release. That last detail is the one that distinguishes the ProFit from AMSEC's other vault door lines, and it's the reason we recommend it to homeowners building out a serious safe room.

The seal is a two-stage system. A silicone seal on the door jamb. A Palusol heat-activated seal on the door itself, designed to swell in heat and close the gap between door and frame. In a fire, that swelling seal is what keeps smoke and superheated air out of the vault.

Locks and access

How you get in, and how you get out.

Two lock options. Choose a mechanical lock with a key-locking spy-proof dial, or an ESL10 electronic lock. Both are tested and trusted in residential vault applications. The mechanical option is simpler and longer-lived. The electronic option is faster to use day to day and easier to share with family members.

Emergency release. Standard on every ProFit. If someone gets locked inside accidentally, they can let themselves out without a key or a code.

Panic lock. Also standard. A homeowner inside the vault can lock the door from the inside even if someone outside is entering the correct combination. It's a feature most buyers don't think to ask about until they need it.

5-Spoke handle. Standard on every door. Available in chrome, brass, or black nickel.

Swing and fit

How the door sits in the wall, and which way it opens.

The ProFit is available in inward or outward swinging configurations, and in right-hand or left-hand orientation. Most installations are outward-swinging, which is what you'd expect from a closet or pantry conversion.

Inward-swinging is the choice for areas prone to tornadoes or hurricanes. If debris falls outside the vault during a storm and blocks the exterior, an inward-swinging door lets you open it from the inside without clearing the obstruction first. Worth thinking about if the vault is doubling as a shelter.

The threshold is ADA-friendly and low-profile. The frame is modular, designed to install in a finished wall without a major construction project. We'll talk through your wall thickness and framing during the quote.

Finish and color

A door that fits the room it's in.

A vault door is a piece of architecture. The ProFit is offered in thirteen standard colors so it can read as a feature or disappear into a wall, whichever the room calls for.

High Gloss

Thermal Blue, Ironside Green, Reign Purple, Onyx, Sapphire Blue, Pearl Essence, Platinum Metallic, Charcoal Metallic.

Textured

White, Spa Blue, Charcoal Gray, Granite, Black.

Hardware Finishes

Chrome, Brass, or Black Nickel for handle, dial, and trim.

Two-tone configurations and color-match-to-spec are available by quote, subject to manufacturing limitations. Talk to us if you have a specific color in mind.

Delivery and installation

A vault door is not a drop-and-leave install. The frame has to land plumb in the wall opening, the bolt work has to clear cleanly, and the threshold has to sit flush with the floor. We handle that.

Our crew brings the door in, sets the frame, hangs the door, and tests every function before we leave. We'll review your wall thickness, framing, and floor plan during the quote so the install runs clean on the day.

If you're at the design stage and considering a vault room as part of new construction or a remodel, talk to us early. The smoothest installs are the ones we get to plan around.
